Community-scale hydrogen production project set to begin in South Wales

Costain has been awarded funding by the Welsh Government’s Smart Living HyBRID SBRI initiative to undertake a project which looks at the feasibility of small scale hydrogen production in South Wales. HyBRID (Hydrogen Business Research & Innovation for Decarbonisation) is a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) funded by Welsh Government Smart Living.

Green light for project to trial low carbon energy network resilience on Skye

The Resilience as a Service (RaaS) project, led by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Distribution, Costain and E.ON, welcomes the positive decision to progress the development of a pilot scheme to improve energy resilience in remote and rural areas through the use of battery storage technology together with local energy resources.

Costain appoints Sam White as Natural Resources Managing Director

Costain has appointed Sam White as managing director for its Natural Resources division, replacing Maxine Mayhew who is leaving at the end of the year. Sam will join the Executive Board and will start on 4 January 2022.

Removing carbon-emitting HGVs by 2040 welcomed by Costain

Costain welcomes today’s commitment by the Department for Transport that all new heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) must emit zero emissions by 2040. As lead partner in the Electric Roads Consortium (ERC), Costain will be responsible for integrating the various technologies that are needed to bring this programme together to deliver a decarbonised road freight network to the UK.
