A few weeks in as the new Apprenticeship Manager for Costain and my feet haven’t touched the ground.

What I have seen in those weeks, is the strong commitment Costain has for bringing young people into the industry and training them to meet the future needs of the industry and the business.

The benefits apprenticeships bring to a business are many and they help to harness fresh new talent. They can deliver skills designed around the business needs and can also help develop the specialist skills needed to keep pace with latest technology and working practices.

I strongly believe that apprenticeships are the way forward for many young people and for some it is the only way they will be able to move into their chosen career path.

So with all this in mind, over the next few months we will be looking to move forward and develop the current apprenticeship programme Costain already has in place, determine the business requirements, nurture the apprentices we already have on board and ensure our future within the industry is secure with the knowledge that at Costain we are developing the skills required for the future.
