Six Costain House colleagues are making a leap of faith for the Costain 150 Challenge*.

Angela Challenor, Executive Assistant – Infrastructure; Kate Clarke, Executive PA; Sonia Cuconato, HR Business Partner; Ann Gout, Senior Agent; Wendy Hurst, Head of HR Services; and Caroline Ferretti, Communications Officer will all do a tandem skydive on 25 June. All live near to the Maidenhead, Berkshire head office with the exception of Ann who lives in Torquay, Devon.

Attached to an instructor, they’ll be leaping out of a plane 13,000 ft above Hinton Airfield on the Northamptonshire/Oxfordshire border. They’ll accelerate to 120 mph, covering each thousand feet in approximately five seconds. At 5,000 feet the instructor will deploy the parachute and they gently land four minutes later.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but just never got round to,” said Angela, who organised the event. “The Costain 150 Challenge was the motivation – if I was ever going to do it, this was the perfect opportunity. However I didn’t want to do it on my own and thought it would be much more fun as a team event and so I managed to recruit five more colleagues in the office and the Costain’s Girl Power Take the Leap of Faith team was born!”

Only Caroline has done a skydive before so it will be a new and exciting experience for the rest of the team. “We’re all enthusiastic and all looking forward to it,” said Angela, who is also taking part in the Great North Run for the Costain 150 Challenge. “There may well be a few nerves before the day, but I’m sure it will be really good fun and we’ll all have a great day and experience of a lifetime.”

* The Challenge, which will commemorate Costain’s 150th anniversary, involves raising £1million in 2015 for the Costain Charitable Foundation’s four chosen charities – the British Heart Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support, youth charity The Prince’s Trust and Samaritans.
